Corn Starch

Corn Starch is a white powder with a silky and dry feel, derived from corn. It adds a matt and satin feel to DIY formulations.

Corn starch is commonly used in natural deodorants to make them more absorbent and gentler to the skin. It is also very common in bath bombs to control the fizz reaction of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and citric acid and to add smoothness. 

Very absorbent, corn starch can be used as a baby powder (safer alternative than using talc) and in diaper area barrier creams to keep baby skin dry and protected from moisture.

Other uses of corn starch are in bath salts and milk baths to add smoothness and silkiness; in emulsions and water-based DIY formulations such as face masks to add thickness and a matt, satin feel.

INGREDIENTS:

• 4 tbsp coconut oil
• 3 tbsp corn starch
• 1 tbsp sodium bicarbonate
• 20 drops of your favourite essential oil

HOW TO MAKE:

Add all ingredients to a small bowl and blend well. Transfer the mixture to a jar with a lid.

HOW TO USE:

Apply to clean underarms, just as you would with a normal deodorant.
