Equipment needed

  • One small bowl – for measuring the ingredients
  • Digital scale – with 0,1 gram precision
  • Double boiler – for warming and melting oils, butters and oil-soluble ingredients. Alternatively, you can use a heatproof bowl resting in a saucepan with boiling water. For this recipe, we do not recommend using a beaker since you will need to stir with a spatula, and the beaker may be too small for it.
  • Spatula
  • Thermometer
  • Recommended packing for this recipe: PET jar or glass jar

Instructions

  1. Using the small bowl, and the digital scale, measure all the ingredients, except for the essential oils, and add them, one by one, to the double boiler.
  2. Heat the ingredients in the double boiler, under medium stirring, until approximately 75°C to 80°C.
  3. Remove the ingredients from the heat and start to cool down while stirring with the spatula. You will notice that the oils will start to solidify and become cloudy. This is normal. Continue stirring.
  4. When the mixture has cooled under 30°C, add the essential oils and blend it well.
  5. Pour the gel into the jar, and leave it to cool down completely.
  6. When the gel has reached room temperature, close the jar with the lid and it is ready for use!

How to use

You can use this oil as a body oil: during the shower, while the skin is still damp, rinsing it off slightly afterwards, or after the shower, on towel-dry skin and leaving the oil on. Remember to massage the oil into the skin while applying it for a better effect. You can also use this oil as a massage oil or as a bath oil.
